Default bad starter ?

Well a while back my battery died and I thought it was a bad battery as it was old.I was giving a battery and it worked fine but if the car sat for a couple of days the battery would die.I looked for anything that would be pulling the battery down and could not find anything.I even closed my son in the trunk to verify the light going out.
Well I got a new battery when I got my car back from the transmission shop and all was fine for a few days until I let it sit for 2 days.I went out yesterday and all it did was click.I put a charger on it assuming the battery was dead and all it took was around 4 amps from a 10 amp charger. I went out today and went to start it,the battery showed 12.9 volts. When I turned the key it clicked.I tried it 4 or 5 times then it turned right over as if no problem. Now I am wondering if the starter solenoid could have been pulling the battery down. What is yall's take on this.I would hate to put a starter on and that not be the problem.Oh I checked and with the engine running and light's on the battery was showing 13.9 volts is this about right? This is a 83 300D

Thanks FI . So you are agreeing the solenoid could be draining the battery after it sits?

Do any of your other accessories work, like headlights, fan blower, wipers etc. with the key in the on position after sitting for a couple of days? Or is it just failing to start?
