Default Anybody seen this part on another 300SDL?

Has anyone else seen this part on another 300SDL or any W126?

The part number is 016 545 29 28 and below it ELR is written on it. Had part number looked up at dealer came up as switch with no description. Ever mechanic I have talked to never saw it before. It sets right behind the fuse box.

Sleepwalker my cars VIN is WDBCB25D9GA241542 if that helps u look up that part.

Also can anybody tell me if this car was part of the trap oxidizer recall and has it been done to the car?

I've seen it before in a couple of of 300SDs, but I don't know what it's called. When I find my MBZ W126 CDs I'll look it up on there.

ELR means electronic idle speed control.

that thing is called refference resistor which i see on gas engine but didn't know it does exist on diesel too!

i'll find out more about how it is on diesel.

in gas engine, you adjust the thing by pulling it up and selecting the number (for example: set it to number 7 if the car starts hard in the morning; set to number 3 if the idle speed is erratic on warm up stage; etc).

i'll find and give you the equivalent meaning (problem) on every number.

hey sleepwalker, any chance one of those could be causing mr 84 500sel to die below 1200rpm and hesitate and sputter when i punch it? and if so, do i need to find a dealer with a programmer to have it set? sorry to steal your thread mbz300sdl.
