Default 95 E300D Transmission woes

253K and was still going strong as of the morning, took it out to lunch and lost all forward gears, just nothing there in drive, first, nothing! Was about 500 yards from work so I just threw it in reverse and went all the way back to work in reverse. Any ideas out there? The fluid is full, red and doesn't smell burnt at all and there was absolutley no slipping in reverse or in drive prior to this. I'm not afraid to do a tranny swap and I think I found one here in CT for $1200 at a junk yard but wasn't sure if there was something I might try while the tranny is still in there. Getting it flatbedded back to my house this afternoon. HELP!! Thank you!!!

Already did, going to pull the pan down tonight, change the filter and see how much crap is in the pan. After doing some research, it sounds like the B1 or B2 brake bands in the tranny are stuck/worn. We'll see....
