Hi I'm installing a re-manufactured AT in my 87 300td. The question is should I also replace the Torque Converter with a new one?

The car has 229,000 milesand I spoke with a ex-MB mechanic and he states the Torque Converters rarely go bad. Hmmm well it's a decision i wanted to run by this forum. The Transmission is being replaced do to a leaky front seal and a big pause between shifter and engagement. Either way it drives with plenty of power.

Please let me know your opinions.....
