81 300d no power
Hello all, I have an australian 300d that has engine problem i have inherited it has no power, starts and runs, idle is a little shaky but smooths out when you adjust the throttle.
On light throttle it's sluggish and has no power, when you pull out into traffic you need a large gap to allow it to slowly build up speed, which it does but in it's own time
It really make's little difference where you hold you foot she lack's torque and get up and go!
Things i have noticed is a small leak of diesel around the 5th injector and smoky exhaust that is very slight on idle but not evident when driving and not black.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers Anthony

I am going through the same thing, found that the catalytic converter was plugged. I'm still not real happy with it, but it does move out much better now that the converter is un-plugged. You might also try changing the fuel filters, and clean or change the strainer in the tank. Pay close attention to the o-rings on the top bolt of the secondary filter, they sometimes leak, if it pulls air through there it will cause the troubles you describe.

Thankyou,
Our model Aussie 300d dosen't have a cat convertor but the strainer is something i haven't looked at yet so will do.
filters were changed not too long ago and the problem hasn't changed,Im wondering if the injector's are the issue as i steam cleaned it today and have noticed there all weeping but not around any of the fittings or hoses!
Cheers Anthony
