problem#1: gear shift is out of alignment. example: when attempting to start (most of the time, not always) no action, jiggle the gear shift in and out of park - once, twice as many times as necessary... eventually she starts. also, when parked/stopped on a hill, i shift from drive/reverse to park and take my foot off the break and the car rolls back/forward - park gear no engaged... emergency brake used.

problem#2: when shifting from park to desired gear, i must postion the shifter downward just beyond the desired gear position. i know i'm in gear when she raises up (reverse) or drops down (drive) in the rear.

also: no backup lights while in reverse.

maybe i need to replace both of the subject parts???

any experience or tech guidance to pass...
