ORIGINAL: mbz300sdl

Here is ur chance if you have the money now. If i could buy it i would

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-...QQcmdZViewItem

this car is 2nd time around on ebay, guess deadbeat bidder ???.......looks nice thou.........

i recently found a 91 350sdl in pa, 72 k on the odo. there s plenty of diesels out there, just have to keep looking.......pitfalls? havent come across any yet , i m new to the benz diesel so i m still learning, hopefully the recently acquired 350sdl was well cared for.

fyi, my 1991 350sdl also qualified for collectors car ins. 145 bucks a year vs 800.... nice suprise. not used as commuter.....

might want to look into collector ins to help save $$$$ to help pay for other things needed..........

yeah i saw that one b4...i like it but i cant afford it...the 300SDL maybe...and the 300SD definatly....the 350SDL...i dont know...c what happens when the time comes...

i am gonna be driving that car a good deal...like maybe 15-20K a year...so i dont think i could qualify for collectors insurance...dont u need to keep it under a certain amount of milage?

either way...its gonna be a later 617 or an early 603... so between 84 and 87 is where im lookin...if i can find a solid well maintained car in the range of 3000-3500...id probly go for it...but like i said im gonna this is probly gonna be around march-aprilish... either way...we shall c

I'll tell u right now that u wont find a well maintained 86+ 300sdl or 350sd or 350sdl for 3000-3500 cause mine needs a little work has 296k and because i know its history i wont take less than 4k for it.

in that case i think that 84 and 85 r lookin like my safest bets right now...by the time march or april roll around i can judge it better...but right now...the 617 is lookin like it...

No matter what u wont be disappointed but if u find a 300sdl buy that cause the long sedans are nicer than the short ones as i guess u know cause ur mom had the 500sel. Personally i would love to find a 300sdl with like 50k or less on it from Cali or FL that was owned by an old person and perfectly maintained i'd give 15k for the right one.

Plus the 603 motor u can buy a factory rebuild cause its the only motor that mercedes feels is good enough to rebuild. I heard this from a diesel mechanic that put a 603 in his parents 350sdl when that engine went at 300k cause thats about max on the 350s. I was told this a another party so i cant verify it.

i would definatly like to have the longer wheel base... the only factor thats holding me back is the money...what would a good 86 go for? i know u said your 87 u would let go of for 4K...would 86 be able the same?

if i hold out a bit longer then planned i might be able to get one...honestly SD or SDL which ever the better buy is at the time is the one im goin with....

I have an 86 they are the same car they are worth the same condition dictates the price. I found a few differences between my 86 and a 87 parts car that a local shop had the heated duct work behind under the dash differs between them but unless u pull out the under the dash u will never notice it basically the engineers at Mercedes figured out a better way to mount it i bet most mechanics that work on these cars couldnt even tell u theres a difference. But anything major they are the same. That one in my local paper is 3000k but i have seen it b4 and its not in good condition and its obvious that it has not been taken care of.

i imagine the maintence schedule for a diesel car is different then a gasoline engine...what would regular maintence be considered for a diesel?

What do you guys think of a 91 350 SDL with 210K that runs superbly and is in excellent shape for $5,000?

from everything i have heard...mostly from techs is that the 350SDL is probly one of the more troublesome diesel mercedes has built...lots of head problems...id steer clear...its definatly one 603 u dont wanna buy...the aces i have heard r the 81-85 300SD's same years for the 300D...86-87 300SDL and the 87 300D...
anything with a 617 really... slower then ***** but will run forever...

i met a kid who bought one with 287K on it...has had no problem other then needing a starter...oh yeah...cost him 100 bucks for the car... it was beaten to hell but the sucker was runnin...
PS 30mpg highway...lol
