Default 300d won't shut off

I was given a free car, 1985 300D. Car runs strong, but won't shut off. Even when I press the red "Stop" lever, it still wants to run. I know the car has vacuum issues, and I know about the fuel injection shutoff solenoid, but could it need another vacuum valve. I hear there are two other vacuum valves that might be bad. Any suggestions? Also, the transmission shift hard, chirps going into secind gear if you hold down the throttle. Any help is welcomed

Hey, any luck with this? Mine just started having the same problem yesterday after I tried to fix some of my vacuum hoses which had gotten unplugged. If you think your problem is vacuum related, try this site: http://dieselgiant.com/mercedesvacuu...leshooting.htm
Let me know what the outcome is.
