I found an 81 240d with 250K. The body and interior arein great shape.No rust (Carolina car) and one dent in the driver side front fender and it looks like the original paint The color is Blue/Blue. There are vacuum problems (engine will not shut off with key) and I noticed that the fuel gauge is not working. The engine is relatively dry, tires are shot, trunk is rust free and dry. It starts right up and idles fine. The owner had it listed for $1200 and I talked him down to $800. Is this a decent deal? Is tracing down a vacuum problem a big deal on these things?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

 

It could be your shut off valveora crackhose that connects to the shut off valve, see attachment for loacation of the shut off valve...
