1992 300D Hydraulic Fluid
Since my husband is finally touching my car to look at things. I have had the steering get noisy over the last two weeks along with my a/c blower issues which we are addressing. I have a owners manual but don't see anything in there about power steering fluid. I am guessing the steering uses the hydraulic fluid which is low. I have read several places that it requires a special kind of hydraulic fluid. What do you guys recommend to use? How much to fill it?
thanks. noel

Every car I have put "power steering fluid" into has quickly foamed or leaked it all out. Unless you find otherwise, use Dexron ATF. Power steering fluid is a way for companies to sell AW32 to unknowing people at 5x or more it's actual cost.

Even though the manual says to use ATF?
I have a Subaru, an 89 GL turbowagon, that had a massive power steering leak when I got it. Clear fluid all over the place. Drained the system, filled with the manufacturer recommended Dexron ATF, and it never leaked again. Same thing with my 300SD. Smae thing with a couple of Ford F-250 4x4s I have had.
Use what the manual says to use.
