I recently bought a 1981 300D, which had a non-functioning climate control system. By non-functioning I mean that the fan blower would not come on when I'm driving around in the car. I recently realized that the fan blower does work when the car is turned off, after driving around, when the ignition key has been turned only one click to the right. When I then turn the key farther to the right, to start the car again, the fan shuts off. Does this seem like a problem related to the ignition switch/ key cylinder to anybody else? I believe that a new key cylinder was installed not that long ago. I'd love to know if anybody has experience with the wiring to the key and whether this was some kind of simple oversight of the person installing the new key cylinder. Thanks for your help.
