Default RE: Tar problem SOLVED!

I encountered the same issue with mine about a year ago. A friend of mine referred me to a company called PPC. I couldn't believe how helpful these guys were. They knew exactly what I was talking about and exactly how to solve my problem. I purchased their product SOLV-IT tar & goo remover, and I also bought a bottle of their PRESTIGE polish. The SOLV-IT removed the tar effortlessly and PRESTIGE made my car look like black glass! It actually had more glossy depth than when I bought it new. If I were you, I would definitely give these guys a call (1-888-772-1277).

Wurth sells an excellent product to remove tar and other such gunk from cars, Gunk works too, but is rough on paint. It can be bought online from www.dccarecar.com. I used this on my leather seats on my 450SLC to prepare them for re-dyeing, which I just finished, and then I ordered the dye from www.eastwoodco.com. I hard some tar on my C280 and the Wurth Solvent, is the name by the way, took it off. Also, 97 percent content rubbing alcohol works well (any supermarket will have this, you do need to look for it) and won't take off any wax, the Wurth will and you will have to re-wax. But I swear by this product, also use it on some of the carpet I redyed.

Although it may not sound as exotic, I have always found just plain Kerosene does just fine for tar removal. I am sure some may think Kerosene is too harsh but most tar removers are also petroleum-based products and nearly as harsh IMHO. After removing the tar the area will need to be cleaned throughly with soap and water to remove any residual and the entire area completely waxed. Any product abrasive enough to remove tar will also remove any wax. Hope this helps

Granitize Tar, Wax, & Grease Remover is what I use on all my clients vehicles. Apply it to a micorfiber towelonto a washed vehicle and smoothly wipe.
