Well, it takes all kinds of twits to make a forum worthless and you seem to be way ahead of me there.

I "jumped into the thread" (which is, of course, what forums are for) because I have experience with GPS systems and because of your uncalled-for attack on achtung6, whose opinion is perfectly reasonable and valid.

Calling people stupid, morons, jackasses, etc., because you disagree with their opinions is immature. I presume you're old enough to drive, so I'm surprised you want to come across like a 12-year-old troll.

Maybe you don't mind wasting your time fiddling with your GPS every time you want to use it, just to save money. Don't project your value system on others.

I didn't disagree. If you read my posts you'd realize that. You put those words in my mouth, which makes you a bubbleheaded twit. Sorry, but you are stupid, a moron, and a jackass.

Ahh! Thanks for clarifying that. Most impressive rejoinder! And it only took you five days to come up with it, wow!

I see I misjudged you. You *don't* come across as a 12-year-old troll--you come across as a 9-year-old troll...
C'mon now, really, are you an adult?

Well, whatever image you want to project--go for it! I'm sure you've equally impressed the other newbies around here

BTW, in case you missed it, you *disagreed* with achtung6's opinion about the sloppy power cord (which is true, regardless of whether *you* like what you've done to the cord) and about the inconvenience of having to hide the GPS when parking (which is true regardless of whether *you* don't mind wasting your time taking it off the dash and hiding it) and--what a knee-slapper!--you thought it was a great opportunity to insult him.

You're just the kind of person a forum needs--I presume there aren't any moderators on this board...

Like I said, you're stupid, a moron, and a jackass. You have the reading comphrehension skills of a 1st grader, maybe a 2nd grader. You don't think much faster, either. How can a person converse with such idiocy?

Now, who is the 9-year-old? Do you think you deserve my constant attention? Do you require/demand constant attention and immediate responses from others? Most 9-year-olds do. You don't impress me at all. Sorry to bust your bubble(head). I'll check back in a few days to see if you're still as stupid as I think you are.

Thanks for the info... not sure all the jabs were necessary just to pass on pros and cons of in-dash vs. handheld nav devices..... ????

We weren't talking about handheld units until BobY, the self-proclaimed GPS expert, stuck his small head in here to say something only a true dumb *** could muster.

Hey, Lugnut:

What would be the degree difficulty of installing an in-dash unit in a '97 W140. I saw a picture of one, could have been a dummy, I don't know, but it sure did look nice. Actually, I've been wanting one for the benz only, not the bimmer.

BTW, I'm really not trying to get any of the sludge on me, but GENTLEMEN, let's get past the parsimonious retaliatory cudgels, shall we? Back to the matter at hand.... Hey, Lugnut: How's about that aftermarkey in-dash unit I was speaking of? Do you know of a good brand by stock number or model number. So far, I've read of a Kenwood model, and you've mention Alpine. Do you know of a particular model that may be compatible with the '97 S420. Thanks for your help.

I have no idea which make and model number would fit your car or how difficult it would be to install it. Why would I? Do your own shopping.
