Default Rear Backup Camera Install

Has anyone had any experience installing a backup camera that shows thru the COMAND screen ? I have a 2006 CL500 and the quote to install was $1350.00. I appreciate the technical knowledge required to do this and an individual's need for profit but, before biting the bullet, wanted 2C if there might be a less expensive alternative; like perhaps installing it myself. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Default What I know

I really could not tell you that I know how to install anything. What I will say is that my own rearview camera has saved me plenty of times!

You definitely need to know what you are doing when doing this not only are you taking half of the car apart to install the camera but you are also interfacing with the COMMAND screen. It can be done for a little less than $1350.00 but just the parts are not cheap and do yourself a favor stay away form fleabay cameras and you can't get the interface parts there. You have a nice car keep it that way.
