front speaker mounting depth?

RE: front speaker mounting depth?
You should be able to use a speaker up to about 3-3.5 inches deep. For exact depth go in to Best Buy and they can use their system in the Mobile Audio area to tell you the exact maximum speaker depth you can use. Or you can probably just call and ask them.

RE: front speaker mounting depth?
I just put front speakers in a 2000 c230k. the originals are mounted on a plastic frame that screws into the door panel. i noticed after looking at the speakers that they actually snapped into that frame and were secured by little tabs. using a screwdriver i snapped the speakers out of the plastic enclosure by pushing up on the magnet while prying the speaker edge away from the enclosure. i then mounted new 6 1/2 inch soeakers on the plastic frame by drilling holes in it's edge to secure the new speakers. re-attach wires to new speakers and feed the wire threw the hole in the plastic frame. then use the original screws to attach frame with speaker to the door frame. i hope this helped. this again was a 2000 c230k. there is at least three inches clearance behind speaker if you use their old mount. you can put on original grills. If you don't use the old enclosure you do only have about and inch and a half clearance. (in my 2000)Pull out the old and measure before dissasembling any wiring just to be safe.joe d

RE: front speaker mounting depth?
good insight brudd-
I could have sworn when I researched puting new speakers in my old (02 C230K) the there was enough room for about 3-3.5 inches of depth.....Definitelyuse the stock enclosures for the room and because they were designed in concert with the door to give you the most acoustically out of the speaker.
