Default DVD: Can it be used in Park position?

My 2006 55SLAMG has in its Command system a DVD/CD player. But when I play a DVD I only get the audio. The visual is faded so as to not diastract the driver. Yet the instruction book gives all sorts of visual directions (zoom, sub-titles, etc.). On my car in Bangkok I can see the DVD screen if I am in parked position. What about here?????

You live in Bangkok... but where do you have the SL? If you have a US spec R230, you definitely have to swap the unit for a Euro spec. Simply because US specs don't enable DVD playback.

I have MBs in both Bangkok and the USA. I gather from your answer that it is not possible to tinker with the US player to make it show video even when the car is in Park?

Yes, and that is all you will get when putting a movie DVD in a US spec DVD comand... No picture whatsoever.
