I've got the 2006 W211 E350 Sport, and I have gone through 2 differnet vendors on ebay for "unlock codes" for the E350. They both gave me the same Audio--> Mute --> Telephone Hang Up --> SERV button, and it doesn't seem to work. I care more about the fact that I may be able to unlock a cool easter egg than anything. Has anyone else managed to get the 2006 W211 COMAND to "open up".

I tried it with my 2003 S430, it didn't work
My guess these only work with EUROPEAN MBs

I know some Benz owners (with a W211 DVD comand in dash) were able to change their comand settings by entering the engineering menu in their comands... and they were able to get DVD while in motion. But this ONLY works with Euro comands, and one MUST BE AWARE that one can severely screw up the comand if an invalid code has been entered, or an existing code has been incorrectly changed!!!

I don't know how to enter the engineering menu myself, and we will ALWAYS recommend to enable DVD / TV while in motion by versioncoding the unit through Stardiagnose.

You are most probably right.
I bought my CLS 320 CDI in Europe (I live here) and the push buttons trick works pretty well.DVD and TV works all the time.
I was even able to set the DVD region free.
There is possible to engage or disengage the MP3(default is engaged),engage the LCT feature,Holland MMI feature and IPS feature.
Too bad I have no idea what the hell the LCT,Holland MMI and IPS stand for.I engaged all of them and did not notice any changes.
The truth is i had to change the sequece because the star+poundkey+left arrow did not work for me.I had to push first pound key+star key and the left arrow and hold some 30sec.Before doing this I had to first get to the Engineering menu of course.That requires mute+hangup+serv and hold for about 30 sec.
I hope this can help someone.
If you guys now what the LCT ,IPS and MMI stand for,please let me know.

These guys can unlock all the cars.They unlocked my Q7 TV in no time.
They sold the unlocking device to many countries so you can have it done
almost everywhere.Even in USA.All is on the web site.
