I have a 2001 E class with integrated phone, and Audio 10 head.
I am happy with the system as is but one thing I would like to know is is there any way to make the head unit play CDR's.
It hates them - is there a software upgrade?
Perhaps a later generation head will work or maybe the Audio 30.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Yes there is, use NERO burning ROM software which will burn music files to CD-R and they will play in most CD players. The trick is when you burn a CD-R in Nero is to choose 8x burn speed. As most CD players either track at 4x, 8x and some at 12x. As information in case you don't know the x stands for it is over sampling. or re-reading the audio 4, 8 or 12 times persecond.
I play CD-R all day in my CD player installed in my 99 C280 and the Sony Radio with a single CD player installed in my 79 450SLC. Both players say in the instructions CD-R won't play, fooled them!
Nero can be had a www.nero.com don't download the free CD burner for WMP as Nero will only burn them as WMA files which play on mostly no CD players.
