Default 1997 C230 Speakers

I would like to upgrade my stock speakers for ones that are of a better quality. I have already replaced some of the OEM speakers. Any suggestions for getting some decent replacements that I won't have to do a ton of modifications. Thanks

If you have the Bose system and their is a separate amp in the trunk. Older Bose systems had the amps built into each speaker and they were very expensive to replace. I have never seen in any catalogs or talked to audio shops that would recommend replacement speakers for my 99 C280. due to the Bose system. Couldn't find anyone who was willing to mount a subwoofer in the trunk either.

According to the brochure Bose should be standard with an upscale options on the C280, at least in 99. You mentioned you replaced some of the oem speakers, any name on them? Also, the head is probably not a Bose, most likely a Becker. The speakers you changed had no amps or were they the small tweeter type speakers in the doors, you need to get to the larger speakers and see if they are amp'd or if the amp is under the cover in the trunk left hand side. Also, do you have fiber optic leads for a CD changer? I'm not sure if they offered this in 07. I know my 99 has fiber optics and the system is note bad, I heard much worse and some much better, especially the Acura TL system, it is a knockout.

Hi,

I also have a 1997 C230 Sedan, and most of the speakers are shot. The day after I purchased the car, I had Circuit City install a decent JVC head unit. Im not sure if the speakers were bad to begin with, or if they went bad over the past year of my loud music tendancies. I notcied the other day, that the 3 "loud speakers" mounted behind the back seat head rests do not function, or just one of them does.

1) Does anyone recomend a store that can help me get all these speakers replaced?

2) I do not have the Bose system, where are the amps, and do they need replaced?

3) How easy is it for me to just swap in new speakers, ive already discoverd how to remove the pannels.

4) Why do only 1 of the 3 rear speakers work?

Thanks!
Evan
