Default Staggered wheels CLK

Is there a problem with abandoning the staggered wheel rims on a 2004 CLK, and, using the same size Brabus rims (8.5) on both the front and the rear? The thought is to allow rotation of wheels for better wear, or if I choose directional wheels to exchange the front and back. Default staggerd tire nightmare

We went through this problem when are car was in an accident. Obviously make sure your rims clear your bake assembly. Mercedes would not correct an alignment problem with our michelin tires that were not staggerd. They told us we would have to get new tires. In other words, too bad and we won't correct the problem until you have OEM tires. I was furious and took it to a goodyear dealer that did the alignment for free. You may pay for the car, but when it comes to servicing, they tell you what they are going to do or not do.

Default Staggered wheels

Since the initial post I have changed to 8.0 rims on all four wheels and directional tires, which allows for front-rear rotation but not cross rotation. I am scheduled for an alignment check today and will update you after the check-up. The 8.0 matches the OEM front wheels but not the rear wheels. The front wheels turn without a problem. I used 18" ACE rims and Falken tires, which look great and ride just as good as OEM.

During the process of alignment it was determined that hub centering rings had not been installed, which caused a mild vibration at 70 mph. Those have been installed and the ride is like smooth at all speeds. The initial question regarding staggered wheels has been answered to my satidfaction. You don't need staggered wheels, but you can only use 8.0 inch rims on the front tires.

Default Staggered wheels CLK

Do you guys think this setup 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear on 18x8 and 18x9 is ok for the street? This way the wheels have almost the same diameter, but I heard that 255 is too much for the 8...
Im gonna keep the stock rims without staggered setup for track use but I dont want to degrade performance much. I like the looks and I dont do street racing.

Anyone has a good advice on what tires to put on these wheels?
Thanks
