This is a car that I would like to sell for someone. But he states that is has an engine knock to it. Is this something that I should get fixed (i.e. easy) or should it just be parted out (because it is owned by a salvage yard). Any info would help with this decision.

 

engine kock on a m104 engine 140 body(inline 6 cyl) is what u have is very rare ! that is a bullet proof engine b ottom end unless it ran with no oil whats the history. check for the location of the noise use a stethascope or a long handled screwdriver to your ear most of the knocking noise i heard fromthese engines were comming from the belt tensioner shock or belt tensioner. check it by putting the screwdriver eflat end on the top tensioner shock bolt you sould hear it or apply pressure down ontop of shock should quiet noise . either way they only lasted 50k or so
