Where can iI find what the letters and numbers mean? I have an E320, but just found out it is an E320w, but I don't know what that is. I also saw E320T in another place.

MioCLK 03-16-2004, 11:46 PM Think "German" for W and S
W = sedan
S = wagon
The chassis code for current E-class sedan is W211 and wagon is S211
T = model T = wagon
stile - alpine 04-12-2004, 12:21 AM numbers mean the cubic capacity of the engine.
320 means that it has a 3.2 liters engine
230 means a 2.3 liter engine
the zero in the end means nothing
MioCLK 04-12-2004, 01:16 AM That "number = displacement" don't apply to all Mercedes nowadays.
180, 200, 230, - these three models all usea 1.8L kompressor engine,
230 - 2.3L kompressor(first generation SLK) this engine gone with the 1st gen. SLK
240 - it was 2.4 litre when introduced, but then bored to 2.6 litre
350 - two versions. SOHC V6 3.7Litre and DOHC V6 3.5Litre (new SLK)
600 - current 600 is a 5.5L V12 bi-turbo
65 - 6.0L bi-turbo

Horsepower 04-12-2004, 01:41 PM To complete the confusion: There is a new CLS model coming. Now there is C, CLK, CL and CLS and all are different model series... Horsepower 04-12-2004, 07:24 PM Hi MioCLK, Isn't W = Wagon (Sedan); T = Touring ( Station wagon); C = Coupe and R = Roadster ? stile - alpine 04-12-2004, 09:12 PM well, I didn“t know that "number = displacement" was not working anymore... sorry about the wrong information MioCLK 04-12-2004, 11:38 PM yeah...there is also "A", used for convertibles, (CLK) CLK_Sous 05-18-2004, 01:21 AM Geez body style this, engine size that.... Why can't MB just spend months and months pondering it's new car'ss name like Harley did. Oh yea because after all of that they (HD) came up with V-Rod. Ok lets just stick with body/engine names! |
