Default Tire recommendation please

I threw a set of 17" OE rims from a 500SL on my 02 E320 4Matic Wagon. I want to go
with Michelin Primacy MXV4 225 45 17. Seems like a good all purpose, all season option.

Any feedback or recommendations?

What is the treadwear rating? I didnt even know that they made a Primacy in that size. I have been buying the pilot A/S to get the 400 treadwear.

Oh I see the Primacy gets half the tread life as the A/S. Are you sure you want that?

The mxv4's I had in the past on my Honda lasted quite a long time. They came with a 60k treadwear warranty.

If you are looking for A/S I am very impressed with the ContiExtreemContacts on the E430 4Matic. Very impressed especially when compared with the Michilen MXVs on a previous E420.
Can't speak to wear yet - only 5,000miles so far - but still look like new.

[8D]Primacy replaced the Energy MXV4 series. Now the MXV4 is under the Primacy family. My 1998 E320 had an unusued Energy on the spare rim. It never saw the sun so it was not dry rotted. I attempted to buy 3 matching tires. Since the Energy was discontinued over 2 years ago it was tough to locate these tires. I found 2 in an online retailer and one at a tire store in the next town. I though that I was saving money by using the spare and 3 of the "same" tires. Wrong. The two tires that I bought together are the same tread pattern and wear numbers etc... the spare is different and the one tire that I bought in the next town is different again! Apparently Michelin changed the treadwall and tread patterns over the years. They sold all of these MXV4 Energy tires under the same label with the exact same numbers but they all look different. It drives just fine, perfect in fact but if you look at the tires, they are all slightly different. If I could do it all over again, I would have bought a set of Primacy tires. I have had such poor luck with other brands, Pirelli, Dunlop, Yokohama, Sumitomo, Bridgestone... Michelin has never let me down. I guess that you get what you pay for. Best of luck to you.
