Default I am a football fan

I am a football fan and I notice that many of my friends have been combining watching matches with betting for a long time. But I can’t figure out: does this really help to get more emotions or does it just get in the way of rooting for your favorite team? There is an opinion that you shouldn’t bet on your favorites because emotions always outweigh common sense. But on the other hand, who knows their players better than fans? Share your experience — do you bet on your favorite team or, on the contrary, try to avoid it?

I’ve gone through the same phase where betting started to steal the spotlight from the match itself, so I had to pull back a bit. These days I keep it simple and just track matches and stats on rubiscore.com, which helps me stay in the vibe of the game without overthinking the odds. Feels a lot more fun when the stress dial isn’t turned up to max.

I’ve tried both approaches, and honestly betting on my favorite team can be a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand it definitely adds extra tension to the match — every chance suddenly feels twice as important. But I also noticed that when money is involved, I sometimes stop enjoying the game the same way because I’m thinking more about the outcome of the bet than the football itself. Because of that, I usually avoid betting on my own team now. I still follow their matches closely and read a lot about them, like this story about Wrexham’s rise: https://secondleagues.com/wrexham-afc-road-to-glory/. For me, it’s more fun to keep fandom and betting a bit separate.
