What distinguishes metallic from pearl automobile paints?

Similar to ordinary car paint, metallic paint contains minute pieces of metal—typically silver—into it. This produces a gleaming, metallic look. In addition, it makes the surface reflect more light than ordinary paint and does a better job of hiding minor dings and scratches.
