clean 240D
I'm looking for a nice 240D for sale. Looking for:
absolute zero rust
functioning a/c
tight engine (low blow-by, lots of miles before next rebuild)
Prefer if all accessories work as well, including cruise & antenna, and paint in good condition.

Thanks, ForcedInduction.
I actually spent about a month and a half watching the cars on eBay, craigslist (using google site search to look for cars in all regions), benz trader, etc, etc. Once I went to look at a car in SC that sounded real good, but I failed to make sure I got detailed pictures from the seller. It turned out not so clean as I had expected. Eventually I found a very nice '82 240D Manual (craigslist) in Knoxville, clean and mechanically sound for $6000. 132k miles, quiet, original paint in almost original condition, everything works (including cruise!) excepting the antenna. Patience. There were a few others in CA that were probably as nice, but I didn't want to go that far to get a car.
Of the nice ones I saw on eBay during that time, they were repainted, or the A/C didn't work or had some other problem. For $8000 or more I think the car should be virtually perfect.

tough times at the punk rock house. might have to part with "tanner", my 1975 240d, which is the absolute best car i have ever owned(for what that is worth). there is one rust spot-about 3" dia. on the driver's door, which i may fix while i wait. interior is perfect-not a tear, but needs foam. few cracks in the dash and door caps. runs and drives beautifully. might need some stuff- glow plugs, hoses, ect. but, i was planning on driving this thing quite a bit. i think this is the year and model that maintains the guinness record? odometer says "09346" and i wouldn't be surprised if it had just rolled over. a/c works, but blower doesn't. 35 mpg on a recent trip to New Mexico and back. all i had to do was add 1/2 a quart of oil(rotella) and adjust the idle. love it, but might have to sell- 3 G's or a reasonable offer. better to call me- 970.390.4578. hell, u are in CO, just come drive it for fun's sake.
I am willing to part with my 76 240D manual transmission, it might not be as clean as you want but it will not take much to fully restore. I have invested over $2000 into this car mechanically and due to a baby on the way have decided not to finish the interior/exterior restoration.
Mechanically it runs and drives great! Blows cold AC and all electronics work such as window switches, original becker radio etc. Their is slight rust you can see in the photos along with the condition of the paint.
I am asking $4200 OBO.

I own a 1976 240d, that just turned over 80,000 original miles. I rode home when the car was new, and it hasn't seen snow, very well taken care of. Not going to find one nicer. I am considering selling, or trading for another MB. Is there alot of interest for a manual tranny, no ac, no cc, basic car, but like brand new?
