Sprinter alternator problem

Default Sprinter alternator problem
I have a 2015 Mercedes CS Adventurous 3500 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel. I have heard of repeated alternator problems on the 2014-2015 year models. Supposedly the alternator somehow fails causing shorts that take out the starter and engine ground. Does anyone have experience with this?
