How shall I think, how do you think?

I can by a Mercedes 300 e, 87, that I know is very well kept. And 10 years with an other old mercedes I know that I will love that one too. But... how about the use? How bad is a mercedes 300 e without a catalytic converter? Or do you have a good reason to by this one?
