I've been looking around for an older Mercedes Diesel to buy that needed some work, to get my 14 yr old son interested in doing something mechanical. I have a customer that has a 1979300SD turbodiesel that needs some work. I don't know alot about Mercedes vehicles(never owned one) but I've always liked the older ones, and I love diesel vehicles. would this car be good to pursue? What do I need to be careful of?

 

its a great model.what is condition and miles?how much is it selling for?is it rusy or rotted?

 

It does have some rust around the car, but I don't think it's rotted. I just breifly looked insid at the OD and it read 289,000 KM so I guess that' about 170,000+ miles. It's owned by a customer of mine andI really haven't had a chance to look it over closely and ask him what the car needs or how much. His wife wants it out, so it might go cheap.
Are parts still readily available for this car?
