Default 300TD transmission slip

Hello, I recently purchased a 1982 300TD with 137,000 miles. Recently, the trans has been slipping during the second to thrid shift. This occurs in the morning and stops after about 10 minutes of driving. If I drive in second gear, the slipping is less sever. Is this an indication of a worn transmission or could there be other causes. I understand these transmission have vacuum switches/modulators that impact shift firmness. Any thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

i got no idea what transmission version you got, so i will answer your question with questions.

do you see a yellowish box at the end of the cable attached to the transmission side? if it has, tell me.

can you tell me the transmission number? (eg. 722.4 or someth'n).

ok.

>>>vacuum lines incorrectly connected to vacuum control valve and/or rubber connector on vacuum line to vacuum pump is cracked. check vacuum lines according to vacuum circuit diagram and/or replace connector.

>>>check vacuum control (value at vacuum unit measured in closed throttle position approx. 0.4 bar, in wide open throttle position ---> 0 bar.

>>>remove the shift valve body and check wether the temperature throttle is installed. i can send you the location diagram if you will open it.

>>>check teflon ring of front cover. replace clutrch K1 if required.

in other words... your transmission needs repair.
