Survival Supply
Does anyone else keep some survival supplies? I'm not a hardcore survivalist by any means, but I keep about four weeks worth of very basic stuff at my house. I figure a natural disaster or a terrorist attack could knock out the water supply and/or electricity. After Hurricane Katrina, I figure if something terrible happens, I'll be on my own for a while. Hopefully, I'll be near my home if something happens. If I were a Mormon, I'd have a year's worth.
I keep bottled water and can goods, like soups (that don't need water added) and stews. Pretty boring stuff, but I won't starve or go hungry. I have my truck camper and camping equipment, so I'll have electricity (a generator), microwave, fridge with freezer (runs on propane), stove, and oven. I keep about five gallons of gas in a can that I rotate out every three months or so. I would need that for the generator. The propane tanks are always kept full in the camper and I have whatever is in the BBQ tank.
I'm ready. Bring it on.

armageddon.
i know that in texas or some area frequently hit by tornado, they also got those basement with survival kits.
when i was in saudi arabia and iraq attacks kuwait, i did seal every joint in my nissan patrol service vehicle so that the nerve gas from scud missiles won't enter easily.
it was fun. i got extra oxygen tank inside, first aid kits, MRE's (i like the chicken curry and spaghetti main entree), and bottled water.

Not Armageddon. Well, just a small temporary one.
Many farms have cellars that can be used as tornado shelters. During the duck-and-cover days here, many people built private bomb shelters. Thanks to Russia, we used to have designated public bomb shelters, but I haven't noticed signs for them lately. I used to see them all the time. Hmmm, curious. Maybe the current owners don't want their building used for public safety?
Yeah, ammo. I have some--lots--but forgot to mention it. Fishing tackle? I dunno. The waterways may be tainted, even from a natural disaster. Look at New Orleans and the toxic spills that were all over.
When the Homeland Security whatever org first put out suggestions for surviving a bioterrorist attack, they spoke of duct taping up a house. After not too long, after everyone in America was either laughing or crying about having to do such a thing, they decided it was unrealistic to expect that of regular folks.

Food, Water, Ammo, Gas Mask, First Aid, no generator but plenty of wood. So let me get this strait Lug Armageddon hits u plan on going camping? And I plan on going full end of the world types of fun and we will leave it at that.
No, I was telling sleepwalker that I don't expect Armageddon. Maybe something really bad, but only temporary.
My camper sits on the side of my house and backs up to one of two doors. I can step from my house into the camper without anyone seeing me. I don't plan on going anywhere, but I suppose I would if the situation called for it. I can load the camper and be ready to roll in just a few minutes.
What kind of gas mask do you have? That's something I don't have.

We use natural gas for cooking and have a few weeks worth of food around, not necessarily for that kind of emergency. There's also well water, oil for heating, grapes that grow near by and a creek if need be. If gas masks are needed, then I hope to God Bush devestates the country or area, even if in the US, that did so...

Yeah, I dunno. If you need a gas mask, what happens when you need to eat or drink? And I wouldn't go outside looking for food or water if there's toxins in the air. Eventually, the tainted water on the surface will leech down into your well.
What if the gas gets cut off?
