Default Price on S-Class

What is a fair price for a 1992 MB 400SE. I can't believe how cheap they are selling for, it's so much car for the money!!!

Condition, mileage, engine, extra's all have a place in pricing. go to www.edmunds.com and do a look up of the car and the equipment and mileage and you will get a couple of ballpark figures to work with. There cheap, because they are BIG, EAT GAS and are very expensive to fix. Not a beginner's car if this is your first MB

It is regional thing.
MB isn't popular everywhere. I bought older model in Louisiana very cheap, because the guy, that bought it at the dealership 3 years before got ripped off by the only shop in Baton Rouge for more, than the original purchase price.
Need I add, that the car still didn't run right?
In California you can find one block with 3 Mercedes shops on it, so the cars here are much more appreciated.

Hello, I actually own two of these cars and it's almost depressing to see the price of what they are selling for. I think the region may be a big part in it; I live in MN and usually their is a pretty decent market for mercedes. However, recently I have seen the market falling...hopefully it will start up again.
Thanks for your responses

What you call falling?
Someone just posted and add here with $11,000 for 22-years old Mercedes.
My neighbor sells 5-years old, GMC 1-ton, 8 passenger van for $5,000.

Thats not the point, when a car was selling for $11,000 6 months ago and is barely selling for $7,000 today that is a falling market. Comparing to you neighbors van is completely irrelevant, take in account the cost of a mercedes new and the cost of a gmc van new. At 22 years old the Mercedes probably has stopped depreciating and started appreciating.

This is exactly the point.
At the time, when we've been buying new ML, out close friends were shopping around for new vehicle as well. They considered Mercedes too expensive, didn't want expense of Blazer, so finally found "good offer" on GMC van with "0 % financing",what "saved" them thousands of $$.
Now after 7 years our ML is still in showroom condition and worth well over 10 grands.
Our friends are on the edge of shopping around for new vehicle.
So why should I complain, that my MB is not worth what I paid for?
If you are surprised, that luxury items are the first to get the hit in falling economy, try to compare Rolls-Royce prices.
