Insurance is a subjective and variable thing. I pay $900 for my 99 C280 full coverage. I live in the town of Chicopee, Ma. Yet if I lived in Springfield, Holyoke, Ma, I would pay about $500 more. I have a clean driving record, I'm 59 years young and haven't had a accident in decades. 5 years ago I got a speeding ticket, it cost me $400 extra a year for 4 years. Also, the car you own has a lot to do with it, repair cost, it is on the most often stolen car list most insurance companies published. A Mustang GT owner would pay more, then a Hyundai owner, etc. Your rate for the car you have is reasonable.

Well insurance tends to be skyrocket high for people under 25.
I'm 21 with an 1989 Mercedes 560SEL and a 1987 BMW 735i and pay around $113 a month when I was in the states. The Mercedes actully cost three times as much to insure as the BMW. But if my insurance rate for when I ship the Merc. to Germany will be around $1000/ a year to insure in Germany. My Cougar cost me over $300/month with Geico because it was considered a high performance red v-8. (AKA a Mustang GT with a Cougar body.) And also it was full coverage because I was financing it at the time. Right now I have liability for the Merc and BMW. Probably will switch it over to full coverage when I get it out of storage and ready for shipping.

I am a 21yr old male living in Kansas. I have two cars and two drivers on my policy, a 1987 300E and a 96 Dodge Stratus ES. I pay 68$/month for both cars, the benz is full coverage to cover modifications. I have a clean record with no accidents. I lived in florida before moving here and i had a 1989 Honda Prelude Si Coupe. I payed 111$/month, i was under the age of 21. Now a Prelude would cost me around 23$/month for liability... kinda sad, nearly a fifth of the price.

I am a 20 yo unmarried male I live in Maryland and statefarm insurance with a 1989 560sel with liability and a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 with liability. The Benz costs me 30 bux a month and the Rodeo costs me $62 a month. I have no accidents or tickets. My other cars aren't tagged so they don't cost anything to insure. Ironicly I just got a quote on a 1999 Corvette coupe and that insurance would be $29 per month.

Hi

As you lot seem to know about insurane I was wondering if you could help me. I will be moving to America with my family for work reasons in three months. I plan to sell my current car in the UK and by a new one when we arrive. Could you please tell me which cars are the lowest to insure and which companies offer the best insurance in the states. I've done a bit of research on UK insurance of Amercian cars at this site http://www.moneysupermarket.com/motor/ to get a rough idea on what make/models are the best for insurance but if you could provide me with some info on the American market it would be a big help.

Okay...you have hit on something I know about....I am an insurance agent with Farmers Insurance going on 20 years. Insurance has changed over the last few years using ones credit scores as an additional factor in your rates. It is near impossible to compare ones insurance with anothers as far as rates are concerned. On average there is about 30 factors that determine a rate. Almost no one will have the same 30 factors as anohter so its near impossible to make the comparison with someone else. My professional advice to you all---find a local agent that you can trust to do the right thing for you. Buying online or using a 800 number may save you now in premium but could cost in the long run. Most of these "cheap" companies write policies you won't like at claim time. If you have a claim on your car you may have purchased a "after market part" policy. I don't know about you but I don't want any after market parts on my Benz. I can provide you good professional advice here that you may not get from others...so ask away about any insurance matter.

My auto insurance reduced by half just by purchasing a home and insuring IT with the same company (Allied).

I think using a credit score is unconscionable. Someone with a bankruptcy due to medical bills is not a higher claim risk.

The credit scoring with insurance companies is a very complicated mix of information and many companies do not factor in medical bill debt, at least Farmers does not.

As you found out, you can save money by placing all your insurance with one company, including discounts for having a life insurance policy with many of the companies.
