I bought a 1984 Mercedes 2.2L 190 Diesel a few days ago with 77k miles on it still running strong. The car had been owned by an airplane mechanic in VA, who bought it from his sister in Florida.

What it needs now are some new rims (the previous owner spray painted them to avoid rust), some floor mats, new brakes because it failed inspection and a few other parts. For an 84' it's in excellent shape, no rust or damage, just one dash crack and that's about it.

 

Just get the rims powder coated as long as u like the style of them. To avoid rust? They will not rust they are alloys. Good find.

those rims are aluminum or alloy. cannot get rusted.

maybe he just have it painted for fun.

I paid $2400, but this thing could easily go for 4k. The previous owner got 37mpg

 

Then... I gotta find me one for a daily driver.

I got it back from the mechanic a few days ago. It needed some brake work, new tie rods, an alignment, hood release handle and a battery hold down. $860 dollars in repairs [&o]. Oh well, this car is still awesome!
