Having a love hate relationship with my 1990 124 230E auto 100,000 miles. Trouble started when I could'nt get over 40 on the motorway full throtle, engine revs fine when idleing,yet sometimes only does 20mph at 4000revs, almost like a clutch was slipping. Also dos'nt seem to want to change gear at the right time yet other times does 70-80 no problem.
Have been assured that the box is ok, there is no blockage in the exhuast, does the same when completely disconnected, changed the fuel filter,cheapest option so far, is the next step the pump?? At the moment I have got 3 or 4 guys scratching their heads where to go next, I love the old girl but it's not worth spending a fortune on. Any advice would be very welcome
