I am a new member and have a 2003 C270 cdi. A superb vehicle with high mileage. It has suddenly developed a central locking problem. If the car is locked via the remote it unlocks normally for a period of about 1 hour after locking. If left for longer than 1 hour car will not unlock. It is in "sleep" mode and can only be opened with the little key, but obviously the alarm is activated.As soon as the key (remote) is in ignition switch, car "wakes up" and operates normally. Car goes very well but had some battery problems before this fault occurred. I am told I need to fit a new ignition. I am not sure if this is the correct solution. Has anyone else experienced this problem and have a solution?

Had a new ignition fitted to the vehicle. Not inexpensive (about US$900) but problem fixed.
