Hi and welcome!

Why do you want your SL to go faster?

BB,

Thanks for the welcome!

It must be a guy thing? Must have MORE POWER! Never have too much power.

I don't want to hack up either car, but a hundred or so more ponies (without using anything that makes you laugh)in both would be cool. And I want to makemy neighborssay "UFO!!! UFO!!!" as I streak by their house.

I think my SL may already be faster and better handling thanmy Corvette anyway. While the Corvette is no slouch, the SL seems to have more potential with its V-12 and the high-tech suspension.

Although I agree with the engine having a lot of potential, it takes an insane amount of money to tap into it. Performance Products makes a chip for it but with most chips the gains are modest if they exist at all. I think they have a K&N dual filter setup for it as well which probably would net more HP than any chip could hope for. Contact Brabus or Kleeman, they both supply aftermarket performance parts for Mercedes, just make sure your wallet is full or your credit card empty before you order anything!!!

Hey, thanks. I went Web fishin' and found a combo from RennTech (no luck at Brabus). It's a hi-flo intake kit with fuel management E-PROMs. They claim a 35 bHP and 45 lbs-ft torque increase with the combo. But I've been ripped many times beforeon 'puter chips, so I hear you.

BTW, you couldn't be more correct about the cost. $2,680 for the above lot. $30,000 to $50,000 for real performance mods.

... and what's with my Avatar, anyway? I picked it because it's called Bonehead. Is that a fleshless snake head?
