Default Newbie, with a 190 E cosworth (soon) ..

Hi Guys,

Just found this forum as I was looking for some opinions on a car I would like to buy. There's a 190 e Cosworth that's up for sale and I'm thinking of buying it as a project.

I was wondering what you think of this car?

Some details:
2.5 petrol automatic with 218000 km (is this a lot for a mb?) 1988 needs a new water pump and other little bits fixed but it looks in pretty good nick. All the leather interior is great just a bit dusty.

It hasn't been driven for about 18 months as it was owned by an older couple who can't afford it anymore. They bought it a few years back and have always driven it sensibly. Would this cause any problems?

I know a fair bit about mechanics (& have friends who are mechanics ) and would do most of the work myself. Are there any major problems that could show up in this car?

I had a quick look at the car earlier and I'm waiting for the lady to ring her husband who's currently in the uk for a bit more info. Anything in particular I should ask or check for on the car?

I've always driven manual cars but as I only want this to drive about every now and then I'm not too worried about it being automatic. Is there a big difference between the manual/automatic versions reg. perfs/reliability, etc..?

Thanks for any advice you might have & hopefully I'll be getting it soon so I'll definitely be sticking around.
