I thought I had joined all the Mercedes diesel forums! I guess not! I have a 1983 240D that had a catastrophic oil dump, and a 1984 300SD that my now ex-husband had wrecked, so after months of work and vacuum/elec cross pollination, Frau FrankenBenz was born. See my signature for the details. That was 6 years ago, and she was my daily driver for 3 of those until the front suspension rubber starting going. In the midst of a divorce and no shop/tools - I parked her in my garage and she's sat since then. 3 years later I am happily remarried with a willing mechanically inclined partner. Am going to begin the process of reviving her later this week. Will do the basics - new battery, valve adjustment, new valve cover gasket, test glow plugs, new fuel/air/oil filters and oil change, proper fuel priming - see if I can get the old girl to move under her own power to our workshop and start the front suspension rebuild. Lots of oil in the engine compartment, will do a compression test after the valve adjustment and new gasket. Wish us luck! Looking forward to having her back on the road.
