I have a 2003 cl55, which I purchased a few weeks ago.It hashad the ABC recall tube replaced on warranty and several other parts in the system replaced off warranty to the tune of $6,000. I am however, still having the "ABC see workshop" message appear. It is a 2nd tier message so I can dismiss it, and the message is gone, if I turn off the car for a short while and restart it.

From what I've read and from what I've been able to find in the star diagnostic dvd for the 215, It seems that the message may relate toa wiringharness damaged under the cover below the windshield wiper assembly. But not having a scan tool capable of reading all the codes, I can't be sure. The car always runs fine, but after about 30 minutes, the warning comes on. The fluid level is good, and there are no leaks.

The suspension feel does not change when this happens, the height does not change at any corner, and if you press the height button, itraises and lowers properly.

I have noticed that after several days without use, the rear of the car sinks, but I was under the impression from both the mercedes boards, and the star diagnostic, that this was typical for this system andit never sinks otherwise. If I raise the car and lower it, its gone, and won't reappear unless I don't drive it for at least 4 days.

Is this something typicalyou've seen?? Any thoughts on what I should do next to fix the issue and lose the warning?

Your should not see your vehicle lowered after any amount of days.
That's why you are seeing message in the cluster.
Abc system is complex.. Has the fluid ever been flushed only using
Pentosin abc mb only? Look at the strut rear any evidence
Of sweating issue?

I have a 1997 E300D and I have a code P1223. This is for the Fuel Rack Position Sensor. I have had the harness checked out and it is good. Outside of removing the fuel injection pump and having the sensor replaced, isthere anything else I can do to fix the problem? How difficult is it to replace this sensor. Right now it will stall if I do not ease off on the throttle slowly. I want to change the injector nozzles. Do you know if I should go with the aftermarket Monarks or Bosio or stick with Bosch?

It this the correct number?

560 sel rear suspension (hydraulic) seems to be stuck or something,as it is stiff , it is 1986 and very clean except for this hard rear ride. Any suggestions as to what to do to release pressure of drop the rear from this stiff or pumped up ride?

Hi, I would like some help with my SL600 Suspension.I just posted a at length about it in the SL600 forum. Long story short.The front won't come upat all and the rear go all the way up. New switch ride control switch did nothing. It won't and hasn't worked for yr's.The light comes on.Resivoir is full and has been flushed. Thanx, Tom

Dear Master Benz tech,
Thanks so much for the offer of help. I have a 1997 E240. Two days ago the FOB would not open the doors. I used the key, got in and started it. I started to drive home and noticed the indicators do not work. I tried the hazard lights, they work fine.
I then tried the windows, nothing. Now I note that the sunroof, electric mirrors, door locks and head rest drop button do not work. Basically, anything that is controlled from the centre console.
I have checked all the fuses ( two boxes in engine bay, one in dash next to light switch and one next to battery ) and they are all serviceable.
I look forward to your reply.

My SRS light comes on when someone sits in the passenger side of my 98 C230. Is something I can change myself? If so how so. I am very mechanically inclined.

'97 SL600 1st and reverse gear only
 
Hello there; thanks for the offer to help with technical questions. I have a 1997 SL600 with 78K miles on it and so far good luck with it. Last week, however, I was pulling away after refueling and after a few hundred feet the 'check engine' light came on and at the same time I realized the trans would not shift out of 1st gear. Reverse, Park and neutral O-K, but any other position is 1st gear only. I can't say I have confirmed the fluid level as I would have to buy one of those MB special sevice tool dipsticks to do that. Up to the moment I refueled all shifting was quite normal with no problem or noises of any kind. I disconnected the battery for a few hours thinking that might 'reset' an ECU behind this, but no change and the 'check engine' light came on again.

I don't drive the car very much and after long periods of little use there is a little fluid leakage that accumulates in a drip tray. Not sure if it is susp fluid or trans fluid though.

Any help in tracking this problem down would be highly appreciated. I guess a sensor or electronic issue but don't know the typical points of failure.

I am retrofitting a 1983 300td with a center console and hazard switch from a 240 and the buzzing won't stop. There were 8 prongs on the old switch and 7 on the new. Do I need to put the 49 and 49a together? Or is there a way to jump the switch and just have my signals working and not the hazards? I replaced fuses already and checked connections. The buzzing will sometimes stop when hazard switch is engaged.

Our drivers seat moves forward and it is smooth and not noisy. When you move seat backwards, it makes a noise, like a ratchety sound but it still moves. The sound comes from under the seat. Can you give us a hint? I respect your years of experience

Hi again MB tech
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. If and when the seat is pulled to do something with the gearbox, is there a snap connection to the box underneath or do you have to get involved again with the ten wires directly from the switch with undoing and resoldering them and pulling them through? Hopefully it is an easier fix then the switch. The gearbox is under the seat? No switch under hood that will take care of that? Thanks for your help again.

The seat could use some filling - we just bought the car and it is pretty worn. May be a good time to either replace the seat or build the seat up. Thanks

Hi Bill - there isn't a definitive amount of time that a battery will last. There are a few factors that can effect its overall life. On average a battery should last 8-10 years. There have been plenty on cases where MB batteries have lasted more than 10 years though.

Hello and appreciate the offer of help. I am new to this forum as of today Jan. 2, 2018. Hope you can help. I own a SL500 with 45,000 miles. A few days ago I noticed a message in the left module that said "convenience function". In the right module it said "temporarily unavailable". When this is displayed the navigation nor the radio will work. After driving the car for about 15 minutes the display will end and the navigation and radio will work. I am just wondering what might cause this problem and how I can correct the problem. Thanks for your advice. Bob

Joined May 2017. I have a MB SL550 2013. 25,000 Miles. Black. Traded a Porsche Cayman S for it even. Same year and same mileage. Was delighted with the deal. Have a mechanic that used to be the head mechanic at a MB dealership in large city near by. Great relationship with him. His shop also has a Lexus mechanic which works on my 2002 SC 430 that I bought new, with 75,000 miles.

2002 C320 W203 Sunroof/Dome lamp inop
 
Hello. I have a 2002 C320 W203 and the sunroof and dome lamp and courtesy lights suddenly stopped working. I have checked all the fuses and they are good. The connectors to the center dome/sunroof module are connected correctly. Ultimately I do not know where the power feed to the center dome/sunroof module originates. I also disconnected both drivers and passenger seat control modules due to stop the battery rundown problem. Any suggestions?

have SL600 1998, mistake given to one guy to work on it because he need need money. i like my car since 1998, always was storage,
after get car back, car smell gas, no engine light, car get very hot inside engine in 5 mints , other fan do not working even engine is hot, he said he change many part ,
after driving for couple miles engine like wanna stop, ,my problem located relay for other fan,
please let me know , how can get other fan works, this can cool engine

anti theft message display on 2010 GL450
 
Hi-
I have an anti theft message display that kills navigation, radio, telephone etc..also the gas gauge is not working, not sure if the two issues are related. My car still runs and I have taken it to 2 mechanics with no avail. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks in advance. I have a 2008 ML320 the ran fine day before went to crank couple of days later and would not start. Turning over fine. Checked fuel pressure in line feeding ( from filter) high pressure pump and it is there but none in the fuel rail. Is there a way to check the high pressure pump to see if it's bad. There are 2 plugs that plug into this would one of them shut a valve and not let in fuel ;say if the crank position sensor is faulty. If it's faulty is that something that happens. Would the high pressure pump just go out like that?

I hope I am typing in the rt place. happy newby over here. 04 s430 240000ish. 4 months to me book like maintenance history from previous family. was running flawless bam light dimmer cluster blowing up with message es. pep boys ( had too go there because it stopped in front of it) said dead battery. installed agm 900 1000 bat. nothing crazy but running a little hot. 4 hrs later dead again. no acceleration. light dimmer basically dead in the water. swapped battery they said bad cell. well this one did have enough volts to crank it. so charged it it would turn over but nothing. noticed 8 fuses blown. ???? knuckle heads might have sparkked something or arched it when installation. I don't know there was nothing blown before. anyway. battery is holding 12.8 and car will start but it is getting hot fast no compressor for airmatic no command center. blank screen. coolant light on abs esp airmatic abs passenger window no radiator fan.i replaced fuses and check relay s but I am not certain on all relays. voltage meter reads 12.8 not running and I think around the same running at the battery. sorry car isn't with me and I am trying to learn this over electrical chariot.everyone keep a saying it is the alternator but they think American. I am trying to work backwards or forward on everything. I don't have deep pockets so if I get to thelocal mb boys not dealership but the car maintenance history home they said 2-3 hrs of diagnosis realistically then searching. crap that 140 hrthat 420 and no parts yet. I understand and don't feel that they are bending me over that's just the world of mb. I am trying to learn as much as I can without pulling parts and slinging Benjamin s around yet. any advice or education pointers etc. would be greatly appreciated. I am just throwing it out there. but it seems like the voltage is not being shared correctly. brand new battery should fire everything up as least a short period even if the alternator is bad I thought. that's just a rookie talking out loud. lots of avenue s on these on these babies. thanks
