Hi everyone
I just got a 98 ML320 a couple of weeks ago and I love it. I did have the check engine light come on the first week but I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the 02 sensor for free.
I've read through the M-Class section and got scared by a few posts but hopefully I will have a good experience with my car

Yes, welcome princess. Look at you new car this way. It sounds as you bought it from a Benz dealer, and probably comes with a warranty. The previous owner if they were conscientious probably had the car back to the dealer for all the "stuff" that was wrong with it. A Mercedes dealer can go into their computer and give you a record of everthing done to the ML by Mercedes since it was new. Asked them, I sure for a Princess this will not be a hard. If any the recalls haven't been done, by law they have to do it. But one thing the 98 and up were reliable as far as drive train. I know a person who has nearly 100K on his 98 ML and he never got stuck once and this person travels all thru the wilds of northern NY State, where cell phones don't work.

I had a check run on my car and the good thing was it was leased by a bank as a company car. It has 50,000 original miles not bad for a 98 the only times it went in the shop was for regular service.

 

Then you should be OK, just keep up the regular maintenance.
