Default hello

Hello,

My dad had a W126 1981 MB 300 SD that went 270,00 miles and ran well for 16 years. Since it was a Wisconsin car, the underbody rusted out. I promised myself that when I could scrape together enough money, I would also get a 300SD.

At christmas last year, I went on EBAY and bought a 1992 W 140 300 SD with 112, 000 miles on it. I now consider it my baby. It does have a few mechanical/ electrical issues which is why I joined the forum.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks

Chinu

Hey,

The main problem so far has been the wiring harness and the front tie rods. Also I will need a new vacuum pump for the power assist closure. It retails for $920 (350 for a rebuilt programma unit). Not sure if I will have that replaced.

What's the deal with the "rod bending" 3.5 Litre 6 cyl diesel engine? I thought that issue was resolved. If not, how many miles can I expect the engine to go.

Also, for any greasecar enthusiasts, I've had some issue with initial loss of engine power when switching from diesel to WVO. How to resolve that issue?

Thanks for your input in advance.

This will be a frequent forum for me.

Chinu
