Hey yall, i just bought my first mb thursday, a 2001 c240, put it in the shop on friday after the ck engine light came on and it started missing after passing a car...hope this isnt a sign of things to come...just reciently found out that 2001 isnt the best year for a c-class and im pretty nervous about it but i hope it will be fine...this is a great forum

 

Welcome to the forum and best of luck with the 240. I think u might need it Mercedes was going though some apparent quaility issues in 01-04 and i think u may have gotten the worst part of it but i have not heard of much engine problems my guess it has a MAF sensor problem. Electrical problems will be the worst. Better to have a poor outlook and be happy when nothing goes wrong.

I agree with mbz300sdl, but I differ in this; I think you pick up a vehicle that was due some mechanical maintenance, and the owner knew it, but since he or she was getting rid of the vehicle, they were not inclined to invest in its repair or maintenance. I believe you have a good vehicle, just perform the maintenance and it will pay you dividends. Happy benzin and welcome to the forum.
