Hi folks, I'm new here and like the look of the site, the how to's look great and thought I'd share my project.I'm a mechanic for a Smart specialist so my knowledge of small fiddly petrol engines is great, but big diesels well I'm not so hot!



My name's Carl, my fiance and I were struggling to come up with honeymoon ideas and so ended up buying an ex ambulance Merc Sprinter 412TD so we could go just about anywhere we like!



We are both in our 20's, the good woman is an insurance clerk so we have a good understanding of what is A. Mechanically viable and B. Insurance friendly.

Let me know what you think, I do have a mechanical issue already, after driving it without fault for around 2 hours, I stopped and well it wont start. Having tried to jump it with no success I fed the starter a current directly off the van I was trying to jump from to no luck.

Got towed and managed to bump it but the exhaust was spewing water, so my guess is head gasket, if anyone has a better idea then please let me know!
