C220 owner, engine replacement
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and just want to say hello and thanks for making this forum available to all. I have built andcrebuilt cars my whole life but never tinkered with the MB's. I have a 220 That sent the eng away with a head gasket, or cracked head issue. I was going to rebuild whole motor but thought an engine replacement would be best. I have acquired a used engine from a same year 220,1996 that was hit severely in the rear quarterpanel and car was salvaged, the engine starts and runs great. My questions are
1. Does the 202chassis 2.2 require any special tools for eng replacement?
2. Should I rebuild the original motor instead of doing engine swap.
3. If I rebuild, what is the best location to get a quality kit with majority of
Parts I will need.
4. As with any vehicle, are there any tricks involved to dis assembly and
Or eng replacement?
I'm sure there are many more questions that I have, but I will use search thru the prev posts. I've worked on Porsche, BMW, cosworth motors, even rebuilt an overdrive mgb transmission. So I have some skills, but am I asking for a headache by doing this? Time is not an issue, and I am a fairly calm person. So any info would be appreciated. Any information. Thanks in advance.
