My 1990 300sl has been parked in the garage for 5 yrs.The fuel pump can be heard when you put your ear to the body. Put new gasoline also. Sprayed quick start and it started for a very short time and did so with every spray. Thinking that I might need to check the fuel filter. Is there any thing else that I need to look at?

 

Make sure the battery is fully charged. I just bought a 1989 300E and drove straight to the gas station to gas up. The battery was not fully charged so when I tried to start to leave it just cranked but would not fire. The gas station is close to my house so I walked home and got the pickup and the set of jumper cables. After five minutes on the jumpers it fired right up. While I was trying to start it before I could hear the fuel pump running and it turned over at a good speed, it just did not have enough power for the computer.
