1989 190E 2.6 Gas smell
I have a 1989 190E 2.6 that I just love. But....I recently noticed the overwhelming smell of gasoline in the cabin. Its so bad I have to open the sunroof and all the windows just to keep from passing out. There are no apparent leaks in the fuel lines from the tank to the engine and I don't see any raw fuel near the injectors or fuel pump. Any help is greatly appreciated![&:]

the carbon canister must be cracked or leaking.
this is where the fuel vapor from the tank to the intake manifold passes. it has a stronger smell than gasoline itself because of long time accumulation.
you might need to remove the front left wheel arch trim or fender to see it. a black rectangular box the size of Black Label Johnny Walker whiskey.
