Default Transmission shifting late when cold, alarm making lights flash

I've had my 2000 SLK 230 for a few months and I dont really know a whole lot about it besides that the PSE's go out and thealarm screws up. Also My transmission whines pretty loud and doesn upshift until the rpms are brought up pretty high when its cold. After it goes through all the gears a couple times it usually quites down and starts shifting normally after it warms up. Is this normal? I'm not sure if the transmission has been service and I cant service it myself because there is no dip stick. [:@]
Should I be worried or is it just what they do to warm up faster or somthing?
ALSO I installed a aftermarket alarm because the pse was $500 vs $80 alarm. I disable the siren but the lights still flash from time to time, is there a way to completely disable the Alarm??

Go to http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/

search for my PSE post under tech at the top of page.

Auto on these require you to drive slowly for a bit until temp comes up. Fluid and filter should be changed too before about 40,000k miles.IMO

Ok, I thought that it might be normal for the transmission to act that way but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks.
I've read a lot on the PSE posts, I've had it out, dried it cleaned it and it still has the same issue.
I havent tried spraying it with the dielectric sealer that you talked about but I did clean it with wd40 I figured it would take the moisture out but next I'm going to try the dielectric. But I have a feeling that its not repairable.

There is a shift delay valve that makes the transmission shift later to warm up the engine faster...Try to pull out all the alarm fuses....

I pulled the fuse for the dome light, and the alarm siren. But the lights are still flashing when the alarm is going off. Is there another fuse for the lights? I pulled the relay that flashes the lights when you unlock the doors but that only disables the light when you unlock the door they still flash when the alarm goes off.
Thanks.

Dipsticks are available on Ebay for about $30 or make your own usin a flexible curtain rod.
MB measures from the bottom of sump up at normal op temp (80 degrees)
Just flick off the red tab and bin it.

Wow thank you so much. That is great info. But I cant read the stick very well that looks like it says 20 and then 30 degrees. Is it suposed to be on the 30 degree mark or which is between 5.5 and 6.5 cm? And those are centimeters and not inches correct?
Once again thanks for your help.

25 and 80 degrees centigrade. Dimensions in centimeters.
Click on pic
So about 6centimeters (60mm) at op temp.
