Finaly got to the bottom of the problem and it was in fact the speed sensor on the rear left hand side wheel. It seemed to effect so many things to go wrong on the can. I am so relieved that it wasnt anything more expensive!!!!!Thanks to everyone that helped and I hope others will benifit from my experience.

Can the sensors be cleaned or just replaced? I may have this problem as well. Can someone let me know how to test the sensors?
