Default How to pull Codes on 1999 SLK 230 Roadster

Hello to all..

I just got a Silver slk 230 '99 impecable... but I wondering if I can pull any error the computer can give me.. and I have no idea how to do it.
Pleas tell me how to get the codes...and also if you can help later to translate them .. if any ( hope no )

There are two different methods. The factory 38 pin connector is located underneath the engine hood on the passenger side. You can only use this with a factory tool though. There is a obd2 16 pin connection under the driver-side dash on the left side with a flip cover (pry with finger). Connect a scan tool and run a short test, key should be in position 2. You will only be able to access engine faults, no esp/trans/radio/pse/etc. Gather a fault code and it should give you a description and code number. You can proceed diagnosis from that point.

Tks!.. I thought I could do it my slef. Anyhow just came back from the dealer and they told me this code came out : P0455 ( levels at the gas tank of fumes ( or something like that ) were low.. and the reason for that is the cap is loose...
Is that right?
